I go out early in the morning, at 5:30, to water a few of our more
recent plantings. It’s quiet and comfortable, but by the time we go
to church, just before 8, it’s already hot enough to start melting
me. After we get home again, I mostly stay inside, blinds drawn
against the sun, cool, dark, minimal motion. It’s the mirror image
of a warm, bright room by the fire that’s so inviting in January.
