receding snow

receding snow

Last Friday’s snow, only four or five inches, is already almost gone, and is probably the last accumulating snow we’ll see this winter. It shrinks back from wood and stone, retreats into thin pools, and finally escapes into the hazy sunshine. It’s strange, but after a couple of warming, sunny days I’m already missing the snow. Maybe we didn’t get enough this winter. I’m sad to see it go.
