Cold – a high of only 60 degrees, and cloudy after 10am.
Creeping charlie is not-so-slowly taking over our yard. Under 2
inches of gravel, under 3 inches of mulch, in heavy clay baked dry
or sticky wet it keeps growing. But its little purple flowers are
visited often by bees when little else is blooming.
We got a spit of rain around 7:30pm, but mostly it’s just cold –
good planting and transplanting weather, though. I’ve moved a dozen
baby hostas and about half as many ferns. I also transplanted our
lupine to a better-drained location. Last year’s new beds don’t look
quite so empty any more.
