The first leafy shade of the year, under the chokecherry, took me
by surprise. The shade was suddenly cool, and I looked up to find
the cloud, but saw instead a tree full of bright green leaves.
1.25 inches of rain, and MUCH cooler – only a high in the
upper 50s, 30 degrees cooler than yesterday: perfect soaking-in
weather. The water was just what everything’s been waiting for.
The grass suddenly bursts with green. The first fern fronds unfurl.
