Even though leaves are changing color, our Romaine lettuce is
still coming on strong – the cutworms know it, too. I was hoping it
was the caterpillar of some exotic, colorful butterfly, but I’m pretty
sure it’s a cutworm. We have enough to share, though.
The mums, ignored all summer when they should have been trimmed,
have a scraggly beauty fit for the season. With little else to attract
them, bees and butterflies love them.
