Having finally read
John Jeavons’
How to Grow More Vegetables… Than You Ever Thought Possible on Less Land Than You Can Imagine,
I finally knew what to do with the
soil test
I had done two years ago, but I got really frustrated looking for
organic fertilizers. Granite meal, wood ash and alfalfa meal were what
I wanted, some now, some next spring. Not only did the local nurseries
not have anything I wanted, they didn’t even know what it was, or why
I would want it. I was starting to feel like I was all wrong… until I
found
Mother Earth Gardens, in south Minneapolis.

On the phone, they knew immediately what I meant, and when we went
there today, they had everything I wanted – only I bought green sand
instead of granite meal for potassium. Highly recommended. Now if
I can only find the time to get it into the garden…
