This morning the first redwing blackbirds returned to our ponds, calling out in their warm-weather trills. Tonight I noticed our first moths when I turned on the lights to lock up.
Jenny got a bouquet of pussy willows
at one of her volunteer jobs, and I put a few stems into the ground in hopes of growing some myself, but I learned later
that I should have waited until after the last frost. I also learned that deer like to eat it… so its chances are slim, but I like to see them out there hoping, like me, for spring.
