Even though it’s still cold, even though snow still falls, I can tell spring is coming. The snow through February has been face down, breathing its moisture into the earth, but yesterday, like rolling over in its sleep, it turned onto its back. Looking into the sun I could see blue-white snow-breath hang thick in the air.

But that was yesterday. Today the haze is greyish-white, because fresh snow is falling, 6 inches worth, while the temperature holds in the single digits. Tonight we expect it to drop to 8 degrees below zero. The snow has rolled over again, back to sleep for a few days, at least.
