We never got our inch of snow, just another glazing of frosted ice. I could have used the exercise, shoveling snow, but mostly I don’t mind. I took advantage of the good weather to make us one step stranger in the eyes of our neighbors…

Jenny and I rang doorbells to ask permission to collect cut Christmas trees. We didn’t have one of our own, but they make a great brush pile in winter, and an aromatic mulch after chipping in the spring. The four trees we gathered make a nice green pile behind the vegetable garden.
