(Reno, NV) – This week, for the first time, I’ve had a kitchen during my stay in Reno. Besides eating better and faster, I ate for the whole week for less than $50 – and I didn’t try to buy cheap, either.

It’s challenging to buy food for one, for one week, knowing that you have to eat it all or carry what’s left back home in your baggage. I bought too much – I ended up eating more than I really wanted to today, and I’m packing a little bag of leftovers. Next time I’m going to bring a few small containers of staples with me to start.

The act of cooking is a kind of meditation for me, especially at the end of the day. It involves all my senses, and there’s a real, tangible reward at the end. Tasty.
