Plants in motion
What struck me as I watched these short time-lapse movies is that baby plants are as cute and plump and lively as any other babies – it’s only because our senses are tuned to a higher speed that we don’t notice it. We’re going through life as fast as we can, and doing everything we can to go faster. Plants… don’t.
It’s easy to anthropomorphize, so I won’t. But I still wonder what life would be like lived more slowly. It’s something I’ve wondered before, looking at trees, especially redwoods, or bristlecone pines. Now I see it even in a sunflower.
