The sunflowers are getting ragged, going to seed. Our forget-me-nots, our basil and catnip are covered with seed pods, too. Goldenrod is everywhere in bloom, and coreopsis flowers twinkle from across the yard.
Jenny picked up some Colorado peaches from the farmer’s market. It goes against our philosophy of buying local produce, but Jenny and I stumbled across some unbelievably delicious peaches one late summer vacation in Breckenridge, and we’ve never forgotten them. I don’t know where in Colorado they get enough water and frost-free days to grow good peaches, but they are better than any others we’ve tasted. The guy who sold them said peaches from Utah were even better – have you tried them?
From this day forward, we resolve never to eat peaches before September.
