It’s always a relief to get home. To see the green trees and weedy lawn is reassuring, familiar, unremarkable at a glance, but precious in every detail. The small flaws – the hedge that needs trimming, the gutter’s slight sag, the weeds in the garden – all say my home needs me. We’re in this together, my home and I. (It’s also why I never quite finish
my chores :-)
. It’s nice to be needed.)
