I caught a glimpse of a Baltimore oriole
this morning as I made my rounds. I’m currently being tormented by a maddeningly elusive eastern bluebird
(I think). He flits from behind one tree to behind another, only long enough to etch a blue streak across my eyes. In between he taunts me with his impudent song.
He finally held still long enough for me to confirm that he is, in fact, a blue bird. It looks like he wants the house of our resident chickadee pair. I don’t know how it will turn out, but the chickadees look worried, and I don’t like to see them that way.
18°C (64.4°F) Rain finally came, after an hour of clearing its throat, straight-down and steady. Now it’s building in intensity, drops bouncing back into the rain coming down and bursting into mist three inches above the rooftops.
19°C (66.2°F) Yesterday’s haze is condensing into clouds. I hope we get some rain.
