I spent more time outside today, and maybe that was my problem yesterday. The sun was warm and comfortable, but there’s still a chill from the snow, like the chill near a shaded mountain stream. The sun is not yet strong enough to overcome it.
I sat on the steps on the deck, out of the wind, with the sun streaming into my lap (Rafe, our oldest cat, showed me just where to sit). I finished my sketch of a squirrel. I’d like to say that I drew it from life, but they move too fast, and my drawing skills are too rudimentary for that to work. Instead, I drew it from photographs I found on the web, mostly from Bob’s Backyard
I also took some time to do a little indoor gardening. We saved an oregano plant from the garden last fall, and it was starting to look a little sad. I trimmed it up, gave it a bath, and let it bask in the sun. It looks better already.
4°C (39.2°F) More record warmth today. The ground is melting again – I could sense that earthy smell of a spring thaw, just before everything starts to grow.
