A glorious day… not just for the sun, the blue sky (in spite of it, in fact – we could use some rain), the light-moist, 80-degree weather, but there’s a smell in the air like ripe tomatoes, watermelon and fresh-cut grass all rolled into one. It is a sigh, full of fertility and repose. And here I am, lucky enough to enjoy it, sitting under the shade of a grape vine. This is as good as it gets.
