deer

Picking at the scabs of winter, the thin gauze of yesterday’s snow already gone, I wait for the thick bandages of tonight’s - and tomorrow’s - snow. A group of fourteen young deer have been roaming our neighborhood. This morning they rested on the small hillside behind our house, and they watched, but didn’t run, when I stepped out to see them.
