Five below zero, windchill of 30 below.

We went skating outside, wrapped and layered.
Two hats, scarf and sunglasses, nothing exposed.
Shapeless lumps on gleaming bright blades
wobbling over bumpy ice.

Our windows – even the new ones – have condensation along their
bottom edges, but that’s still an improvement from the ice sheets
that used to form across their entire surface.
