Suddenly, one day, it’s winter. I step outside and shrink back
into my coat at the cold. When I look into the sun, all I see
is ice. Dimpled snow wraps tightly over every ripple in the
landscape. The squirrels and I, knowing every step can be traced,
hide in each other’s footsteps.
