Jenny made a rhubarb crisp
from a Martha Stewart recipe, but we decided we prefer a crispier, more traditional (no orange juice) crisp. As soon as this one’s done - it won’t be long! ![]()
- I’ll pick another bunch of rhubarb. Â
Jenny and I visited some Mexican and Asian markets today, and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t expect to find such good markets in Minnesota - it’s one thing I’ve missed from my time in San Diego - but now I don’t have to miss them any more. I finally found a good salsa fresca again.
It’s also an education. Going to an “ethnic” store, it’s much easier to see how limited our tastes can be - in produce alone, I saw at least a half dozen items I’ve never had at home: mamey sapote
, malanga
, yuca
, yautia, yampi, calabacita. I wonder if any of them can be grown around here?
In the end we were still a little disappointed - we could not find a good selection of vegetarian seafood at the Asian markets. We found some online
a while back that was very good, but we’d like to find it closer to home. Â
Cool and overcast, as a light mist falls amongst the twittering birds. Â
