on this day in… 2002

We took off south, just high enough to see into the great blue bowl of Lake Tahoe. What a surprise it must have been to settlers travelling west, to see so much water after so much dryness, so deep and so clear.

But then we turned, and turned some more. When we finally levelled off we were headed back toward winter, toward home.
