(Reno, NV) The arid climate here reveals hard edges and high contrasts that in Minnesota we see only in winter. A cloud’s shadow plunges sun-scalded dust into darkness - from 90 to 45 degrees, day into night. My aging eyesight recoils, tries to adjust and fails, my retina overexposed. I wonder how my eyes - my head - would feel wrapped in gauze. Â
