on this day in…

Our first frost of the fall… and yesterday was damn close, too.

It changed so quickly. The maple in front has partially changed to a brilliant orange, and the leaves have begun to fall.

We had almost a week of cool, cloudy weather followed by a bunch of rain, so the grass kept growing like mad. I started mowing, but there are enough leaves falling now that I had to start raking, too.

I’m starting to feel the lack of time - time to transplant, to get a few more shrubs and trees in the ground, established. Darkness comes early.

Oh, and I almost forgot to say. I just had my my office walls repainted - thanks, Jenny! - a serene light blue ("Greek Isle" or "Carolina Blue" - depending on your brand of paint). With some houseplants, I now have the colors of sand and sky, earth and stone and vine. I like it.
